Georgetown
Georgetown is the principal community on the Georgetown Divide, and sits on the western crest of the ridge about 16 miles north of Placerville along Highway 193. Georgetown in the early days was reffered to as the prettiest town in the mountains, and to this day, it is a very pleasant mountain town because of its location, it's unusually wide Main Street and quaint shops as well as boating, fishing, hiking, and horse trails. It overlooks a wide expanse of country in every direction except towards the east, where the gradual rise of the mountains starts too close to town, thus hiding the sight.
